A BID to create 5,000 jobs by unlocking more than £92 million of private sector investment was detailed today as a “bold and ambitious plan” to transform the future of Sheffield City Region.
The money would be spent on improving transport links, speeding up the development of business parks and installing superfast broadband.
Public and private sector partners from across the Sheffield City Region have come together to back the project.
Property developers and investors, regeneration organisations, local authorities and Chambers of Commerce are bidding for cash from the Government’s Regional Growth Fund (RGF) to support key infrastructure projects designed to accelerate development of the region’s new Enterprise Zone, boosting investment and job creation.
Businesses involved include Harworth Estates, Sheffield Business Park Ltd, Peel Holdings and Henry Boot Developments.
