Sheffield Children’s Festival comes of age next month.

The largest festival of its kind in the UK, which runs this year from June 15 to July 7, is celebrating 21 years.

The latest programme includes exhibitions, performances, workshops and family events across the city. Schools are heavily involved, some working with professional artists.

One project will see a huge sculpture, ‘Steel City Cascade’, hung from the roof of the Winter Garden.

Council leader Julie Dore said a “staggering” number of children, young people and families - “well over a quarter of a million” - have taken part in the festival over the years.

“The festival all about getting involved. Not just the children who are performing or showcasing their work but parents, carers, families, everyone in the city.”

This year’s festival is being sponsored again by VINCI Construction UK.

The brochure is available on libraries, children’s play centres, shops, cafes, theatres and the Winter Garden.
