A South Yorkshire scheme that makes it easier for small to medium sized businesses to recruit apprentices has reached a major milestone.
One hundred firms have signed up to take on a young person through the Barnsley Apprenticeship Hub Programme – which is now half way to reaching its overall target.
The programme provides free and independent advice to businesses who want to find out about the benefits and practical steps involved in recruiting an apprentice.
Now more companies are being urged to sign up to the scheme, based at First For Apprenticeships Barnsley on Regent Street.
Hub manager Heather Lord said: “We are delighted that 100 SMEs have benefitted from our support and are helping to improve employment prospects for young people in Barnsley.”
