RENOVATION of the University of Sheffield’s Arts Tower was highlighted this week in the Sheffield Design Awards 2012.

Refurbished by HLM Architects, the grade II* listed 60s tower won the Peoples’ Choice prize at a ceremony at the Showroom Cinema on Tuesday night. It was described as a fine example of modern architectural conservation.

Best Building Award went to 192 Shoreham Street, the refurbishment and extension of an old coachworks into offices, by Project Orange, and Small Project Award to Horsefield House, a Victorian house, by Prue Chiles Architects.
