More than 75 finance directors and other senior local business people attended a high profile event organised by Pro Sheffield and sponsored by Investec Wealth & Investment, which gave the Bank of England’s perspective on the current state of the economy.
Paul Fullerton, the Bank of England’s agent for the Yorkshire and Humberside region, was the keynote speaker at the event held at Sheffield’s Copthorne Hotel.
Jonathan Wragg, chief executive of Investec Wealth & Investment, provided the opening address and welcomed Mr Fullerton, who has held management roles in commercial banking for National Australia Bank and Yorkshire Bank, before joining the Bank of England.
Mr Fullerton gave an overview of the Bank of England’s perspective on the current state of the national and local economy and its expectations for future growth.
He also held a question and answer session where the current high rate of inflation and the level of interest rates were major talking points.
Following the speech, guests had the opportunity to network over lunch.
Nick Bolton, senior investment director at Investec Wealth & Investment, said: “We are committed to enhancing the business and trading environment within the Sheffield City Region and so were delighted to sponsor this important event, which we believe has given key executives and finance directors a greater insight into the progress of the recovery and the economic outlook for our region.”
