Assembly of Sheffield’s long-awaited Ikea store has begun.

Scunthorpe firm Clugston Construction are now on the site of the former Betafence factory in Carbrook, near Meadowhall, and the 31,500 sq m superstore is likely to take shape in the coming weeks.

The £60m shop will include a sales floor, cafe and children’s play areas, as well as underground and external car parking areas. It is due to open in summer next year.
Ikea will hold a job fair at the Town Hall from 10am to 6pm on Friday. People will not be able to apply, but vacancies will open in the winter.
