A long established motor dealership in the Sheffield area closed this week.

Sheaf Motor Group blamed the financial climate for making it “increasingly difficult to run the business at a profit”.

Formed in 1949, the company was well known in Sheffield and North Derbyshire. It closed its branches in Sheffield Road and Callywhite Lane, Dronfield, and Dyche Lane, Coal Aston, from yesterday (Wednesday), with dozens of jobs affected.

Cath Talbot, joint managing director with her sister, Julia Proctor, said: “Closure has been a tough decision. The turbulent economic climate coupled with the increase in online sales has taken its toll on the business. We would like to thank everyone for their support and custom.

“ We are now looking at a number of potential opportunities for the three sites and very much hope that the sites will be occupied by either the retail or service sector to continue to provide local services for residents in Dronfield and North East Derbyshire.
