A facelift is being lined up for the Spital Hill district shopping centre.
The council is aiming to work with local traders to improve the appearance of shop fronts and to encourage investment as part of a wider regeneration programme.
Cabinet member Coun Harry Harpham said: “Spital Hill could be a thriving and successful district shopping centre. It has a strong community, a good range of shops and community facilities, and access to transport links - but it needs a helping hand to reach its full potential.”
Environmental improvements are being made between the Tesco superstore and Ellesmere Green as a spin-off from the planning agreement with the company. A small park and a community street market are also planned.
