JF Finnegan has been appointed by St Paul’s Developments to construct 32,500sq ft of new retail space at Cortonwood Retail Park following the securing of pre-lets to leading bed specialist Dreams and toy retailer Smyths Toys Superstores.
Represented by scheme agents BNP Paribas and King Sturge, St Paul’s Developments has leased a 10,000sq ft unit to Dreams, who was represented by Wilkinson Williams.
Smyths Toys Superstores, represented by Thompson Heaney, has also signed a pre-let for a 15,000sq ft unit.
JF Finnegan will start on site next month, developing three retail units; 15,000sq ft for Dreams, 10,000sq ft for Smyths Toys Superstores and an additional 7,500sq ft unit all of which will be available for occupancy in November this year.
The contract continues JF Finnegan’s long-standing relationship with St Paul’s Developments’ former colliery site, having constructed all 250,000sq ft of retail units in the previous phases over the last 20 years. Occupiers at the flagship retail park include B&Q, Morrisons, Next, Argos, McDonalds and Boots.
David Elliott, joint Managing Director of St Paul’s Developments, said; “We are delighted to have secured additional high-profile retailers to our first class tenant mix at Cortonwood and to be progressing with the fourth phase of works. JF Finnegan has played an integral role in the delivery of the scheme so it is entirely fitting that they continue to work with us to facilitate the new retail units.”
Gary Smith, Director at JF Finnegan, said: “We have witnessed Cortonwood go from strength to strength over the years and the former colliery site has truly been transformed into one of the region’s most acclaimed regeneration projects and shopping destinations.
