Sheffield-based motor retailers The Gilder Group have acquired the Honda franchise in Chesterfield from the Gordon Lamb Group for an undisclosed sum.
This latest deal follows the Gilders’ acquisition of Peter Brooks’ two Honda retail sites in Sheffield and Rotherham in September last year.
“Adding another Honda centre to our portfolio further strengthens our retail operations in Chesterfield and North Derbyshire,” said Garry Scotting, chief executive of The Gilder Group.
“The Honda marque has a number of synergies with the existing brands we represent and enhances our customer offering in the region. Customers will benefit, for example, from an expansion of our used Honda stock with over 175 used cars to choose from across the Group.”
As part of the deal, The Gilder Group will move Honda to a new site in Chesterfield. Gilder Honda will be on Lockoford Lane off the Tesco roundabout from February 6.
Mr Scotting added: “All staff at the centre are moving over to Gilder Honda and a warm, friendly welcome is guaranteed for new and existing customers.”
Stephen Lamb, chief executive of Gordon Lamb Group, adds: “As the centre passes from one local family business to another, I am confident that our customers will receive the same unrivalled levels of service under the new ownership.
“We are especially pleased with the timing of this deal as the funds generated from this sale have allowed us to exchange on the purchase of Skoda in Derby.”
The Gilder Group also owns 11 Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT and Volkswagen Commercial sites across South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire and Lincolnshire and two Honda retail sites in Sheffield and Rotherham.
The acquisition of Chesterfield Honda will see the Group’s turnover increase to more than £200 million.
