SHEFFIELD’S Gripple is one of the only nine UK companies to reach the final stage of the European Business Awards, with the prospect of securing a top ten position in Europe.
Gripple was selected from 25 UK entrants to receive a coveted Ruban d’Honneur in the Chairman’s Selection category in the 2011 European Business Awards scheme, sponsored by HSBC, which celebrates businesses demonstrating exceptional performance within their sector.
Adrian Tripp, chief executive of the European Business Awards, said: “Receiving a Ruban d’Honneur is a major success. It promotes the fact that Gripple is up there with the best businesses across the European community. This year has been tough on the judging panel as we are seeing businesses emerge from economic difficulties, coming out fighting and delivering some great entries. Their mood is confident, ebullient and highly competitive. The gaze of European business community is well and truly on the Ruban d’Honneur recipients and Gripple has demonstrated real talent within agricultural and industrial markets. Together with HSBC we wish Gripple every success in the final round.”
Gripple, and the other Ruban d’Honneur recipients, will receive this decoration at an awards ceremony in Barcelona in November, when the final winner in each category will be presented with the ultimate prize - a European Business Award.
Mark Edmonds, Gripple’s managing director, said: “This honour is a true mark of distinction and testament to the huge effort and commitment of our staff who own the company as shareholders and benefit from its success. Their passion continues to drive the company and the importance of our customers and partners has resulted in Gripple being recognised as leaders in its fields.’’
