A growing Sheffield law firm has moved into new premises to meet increasing demand for their services.
Withers & Rogers, one of the largest intellectual property firms in Europe, started out with just two partners in 2009 but has since expanded to a team of 22 employees.
The company has recently relocated from the Electric Works in the city centre to take 7500ft of office space in Derwent House in Arundel Gate.
Over the last several years the firm has attracted 1500 new UK clients and grown turnover from UK businesses by more than 50 per cent. It boasts more than 70 patent and trademark professionals within its organisation.
Partner Paul Foot said the move was another major milestone for the company. He added: “We looked to Sheffield specifically because of the advanced manufacturing and engineering firms based here that we knew we could service well. We wanted to offer customers choice in a professional services market that wasn’t saturated.
“And that is exactly what has happened. Thanks to the economic development arm of Sheffield City Council, Creative Sheffield’s Invest Sheffield team, we made key contacts with business leaders and were supported in everything from finding the right premises down to re-locating our families.”
The move comes after a review by East West Locations Ltd in 2015 found that one in seven working people living in Sheffield’s ‘travel to work area’ work in business, professional and financial services. The sector currently accounts for 14.2 per cent of employment in the city and is predicted to grow by 18.3 per cent by 2020.
