Marketing agency Diva Creative has started 2014 as it finished 2013 – with another nomination for a major award.
The Sheffield firm has been shortlisted for the Young People’s Sexual Health Service/Project accolade at the UK Sexual Health Awards for its work with Warwickshire County Council.
The recognition comes from Diva’s work in designing a website and mobile app for the council’s Respect Yourself campaign, which promotes healthy sex and relationships and encourages young people to make informed choices.
The website, developed in close collaboration with young people and using a ‘sex-positive’ approach based on successful techniques used in the Netherlands, has been visited more than 325,000 times since launching in June 2012.
More than 106,000 of these visits have come from mobile phones or tablets, demonstrating the effectiveness of the site’s responsive design that allows it to be displayed seamlessly across multiple devices.
The smartphone app version of the website also proved popular with its target audience, and has been viewed almost 60,000 times.
Amanda Pearce, director at diva, said: “Myself and the whole diva team are very proud that our work with Warwickshire County Council and its partners has been recognised as one of the best UK projects in its field.
“Our innovative approach to this project saw us use social media and focus groups to get feedback from young people on our designs. The end result is a responsive website that answers their genuine questions about sex and relationships and points them in the direction of help and support in their area.
Last year, diva won six awards, including the coveted Grand Prix at the prestigious UK Public Sector Communications Awards in December, and was shortlisted for 17 others. The Workstation-based company also achieved significant growth in 2013, with new staff, new projects and new clients from across the UK.
Amanda added: “diva has headed into the New Year with great enthusiasm after our many successes in 2013. We believe that 2014 will be our best year yet, with more award wins and nominations to come for our creative campaigns.”
