The site of a former school and community centre in Sheffield has been earmarked for homes.
Sheffield Council has applied for planning permission to merge more than two acres of land between Bannerdale Centre and the former Abbeydale Grange Secondary School site.
Proposals have sparked concern among nearby residents and sports clubs, who fear development would exacerbate existing trouble with traffic congestion.
Others say the plan threatens the landscape.
Robert Bryan, of Ecclesall Rangers Junior Football Club, which play matches on fields at Bannerdale, has called for assurances from the council.
He said: “The loss of parking in an area with acknowledged parking issues is a material planning issue, which has to be taken into account.
“However, in the event these factors are not taken into account, it is guaranteed there will be chaotic parking on a Sunday which is hazardous to road safety, a disturbance to residential amenities and a kick in the face to grassroots football.”
The plan, due before the council’s planning committee on Tuesday, has been recommended for approval.
