Despite the economic climate and the gale force winds, the Sheffield Law Society’s 135th annual dinner was a sell-out with more than 360 people attending the 2011 Yorkshire Banquet at the Cutlers’ Hall.

Sheffield Law Society president Chris Fry said: “I don’t know where the first event was held in 1876, but the Cutlers’ Hall has been our host for as long as anyone can remember and I’m honoured that this banquet forms as much a part of the civic calendar as it did then.

“I’d like to thank our main sponsors, CLS, CRA Legal, Bank House Chambers, Grant Thornton, Lamp, Park Court Chambers, South Yorkshire Investigations, Trimegalabs and Wesleyan for Lawyers for helping to make it such a fantastic event. We had the opportunity to raise a substantial amount of money for our nominated Sheffield-based charities, the British Tinnitus Association, and the Sheffield Leukaemia & Blood Disorders Appeal.

‘‘And we managed to balance 135 years of civic tradition with an awesome party!”
