Law firm Simpson Millar has launched a charity campaign to help The Sick Children’s Trust, a charity which provides free, high-quality accommodation for families whose children are seriously ill in hospital.
The firm has donated £25,000 in sponsorship of these ‘Homes from Home’ provided for parents of sick children staying in nearby hospitals. The accommodation, based at six major paediatric hospitals across the UK including the Sheffield Children’s Hospital, ensures that families can be close to their children who may need to receive treatment away from their homes.
Since its foundation in 1982, the charity has housed more than 35,000 families. It is reliant on donations with no government funding available.
Simpson Millar’s sponsorship will go towards meeting the £1million needed per year to run the houses and ensure that families of ill children have a safe, warm and clean place to stay completely free of charge for as long as they need it.
Neil Fearn, Head of Neurotrauma at Simpson Millar, said: “We are proud to sponsor the houses which will ensure more families are able to receive the support and convenience that the ‘Homes from Home’ offer.”
