Two staff from Sheffield-based Investec Wealth & Investment reached new heights whilst raising funds for the South Yorkshire Heart Appeal.
Senior investment director Nick Bolton and financial planning administrator Elizabeth Coggan took part in a sponsored skydive from 15,000ft at the Hibaldstow Airfield in Lincolnshire, raising around £1,200 for the cause.
The skydive was Elizabeth’s idea and colleague Nick volunteered to join her despite always having had a fear of heights.
He said: “I was pretty nervous before we jumped and the initial freefall felt a bit like being on a rollercoaster, but the instructor who jumped with me was very reassuring. After the parachute went up I began to really enjoy it – it was an incredible adrenaline rush.”
Elizabeth Coggan added: “Although it was something I had always wanted to do my nerves were playing up a bit in the plane, but when I got out there I really, really loved it. It has been a fantastic experience and I am grateful for all the support we have had from the company and individual colleagues who have supported us with sponsorship.”
The South Yorkshire Heart Appeal is part of the Sheffield Hospitals Charitable Trust and raises funds to enhance research, treatment and patient facilities for heart patients at the South Yorkshire Cardiothoracic Centre which is based at Sheffield’s Northern General Hospital.
