A young boxer described decribed as a ‘bright prospect’ by former world light welterweight champion Ricky Hatton has been given a fighting chance to reach his full potential thanks to a Sheffield company.

Adam ‘The Bomber’ Etches, 20, a professional boxer from Birley, has been given support and sponsorship by insolvency and business turnaround specialist Wilson Field Ltd.

The sponsorship will go towards Adam’s living, training and travel expenses enabling him to keep up boxing as a full-time career.

Adam is on the books of Hatton Promotions and managed by Richard Poxon.

Ricky Hatton, owner of Hatton Promotions, said: “I really appreciate what Wilson Field has done for Adam. Adam is very talented, and one of our brightest young prospects. The sponsorship will help him to focus on his boxing career and reach his full potential.”

Adam’s manager, Richard, said: “The sponsorship will allow Adam to give 100 per cent to his training schedule as a full-time professional. It can be difficult for young boxers to stay full-time, many have to work as well as train and it’s not always beneficial. Adam has a promising future ahead of him as a professional.”

Adam, who is working towards his next big fights, which include A Night of Championship Boxing at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre on March 24 and a charity boxing dinner at the end of April to raise money for Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity, said: “I’d like to thank Wilson Field for sponsoring me. It really means a lot to know that I have that support and it’ll help me as I train hard towards my future fights.”

Nick Wilson, managing director of Wilson Field, based on Ecclesall Road South, said: “Adam is a young man from the local area with a great talent and we are delighted to be able to support him in his sporting career. Many members of our team at Wilson Field are hoping to go along to cheer on Adam at his next fight and we wish him luck and success in the future.”
