DLA Piper stays on top
DLA Piper, which has an office in Sheffield, retained its number one ranking by deal volume in 2011 amongst the top corporate law firms, both globally and in the United Kingdom, according to mergermarket’s league tables for legal advisors.
The firm also rose up the ranks to second place in Europe, up from fourth in 2010, and retained fourth position in the Americas.
DLA Piper’s Sheffield practice maintained a strong financial performance throughout last year, servicing a robust corporate client base on a local, national and international level. The Sheffield team completed over 35 transactions worth in excess of £1 billion during the year including Dyson’s auction sale of its Saffil companies to Unifrax, the sale of Interfleet Technology to Canadian engineering and construction giant, SNC-Lavalin, the sale of leading piling company Roger Bullivant, UGI’s acquisition of seven European businesses from Royal Dutch Shell plc and Eaga’s £300 million debt and equity financing of a rooftop solar energy project .
