Enterprise Zone attracts firms

FOURTEEN companies have set up in business so far at Sheffield City region’s Enterprise Zone, bringing more than 100 new jobs.

Sheffield Local Enterprise Partnership, the agency running the Enterprise Zone, said its tax breaks and favourable conditions at a range of sites provide a ‘great opportunity’ for firms.

Ten new businesses have set up and one has expanded at the Advanced Manufacturing Park between Sheffield and Rotherham.

Three firms have located at the AMP’s neighbouring Evolution Business Park, while one new company has set up at Shortwood and Ashroyd Business Parks in Barnsley.

James Newman, chairman of Sheffield City Region LEP, said: “The Enterprise Zone continues to attract a range of investors to the Sheffield City Region, bringing sustainable employment and economic growth.

“For growing businesses looking to make significant investments in plant and machinery, our Enterprise Zone offers benefits that cannot be matched – tax incentives, simplified planning, superfast broadband and excellent transport links.”

He added: “In addition, it is a great opportunity to join the likes of such global manufacturing names as Rolls-Royce and Boeing in a region already considered a global hub for modern manufacturing and technology.”

The LEP is in talks with further companies interested in coming to the area.
