Carla Gibbons who has started a business as a personal trainer being made redundant

A FORMER geography and PE teacher who was made redundant when Brantwood Girls School in Nether Edge closed suddenly three years ago has turned her passion for running into a career.

Carla Gibbons, aged 29, of Ranmoor, has set up a business training runners of all abilities, from gym-based and home sessions to runs in the park and the Peak District.

“When Brantwood closed it all happened very suddenly and I didn’t know what to do next,” she said. “I did some supply teaching for a while but never managed to settle and decided to take a chance on turning something I love into a business.”

The venture is called Train With Carla.

“Sometimes it’s hard to motivate yourself to go out running alone, said Carla, who runs with Totley AC. “But we all deserve to look good and feel great, have more energy and reduce our stress levels.”
