Help from the Den
Deborah Meaden
HAVING survived the risky start-up stage, companies can still be faced with their most vulnerable moment, according to Dragon’s Den star Deborah Meaden, who works closely with many new businesses.
That’s where the Local Business Accelerators competition fits in, the winner receives advertising, mentoring and cash.
She said: “Cashflow is usually a problem and you spend a lot of time scrabbling for money, taking your eye off the ball just when you should be focused.
“Mentors will help you through that process.
“I love this end of business.
“I meet some really interesting people and this deals in a space not many others do - it recognises that moment of vulnerability that businesses face.”
Last year’s national winners Ilkley Brewery are currently being mentored by Deborah Meaden.
Chris Ives, Ilkley’s co-founder, says it is the icing on the cake after already seeing sales rise from the free advertising.
