Modern Eulogy shortlisted to make soundtrack HEAR SINGLE

An unsigned Sheffield singer-songwriter will launch his band's first album next week, and a track from it could be part of the world's first user-generated film.

Matt Williams, 18, from Oughtibridge, front man of Sheffield band Modern Eulogy, will release 'Glory' this week at a gig at Boardwalk.

One of the tracks, 'Farmyard/Graveyard', has been shortlisted for the soundtrack of forthcoming movie 'Faintheart', a film that has been cast online using only uploaded amateur videos. It will be the world's first user-generated film, according to the band.

The single will be included in the film only if it gets enough votes in a national, online poll. The three songs with the most votes in the poll will be made soundtracks.

'Farmyard/Graveyard' is just one of the ten album tracks which Modern Eulogy will debut at the Boardwalk gig Tuesday April 22.

Matt, who has deferred his place at Chester University for a year while he tries to break into the music scene, said:

"It usually takes artists years of hits and recognition to end up on a music soundtrack, so considering we've not yet released our first album, this is pretty amazing.

"But whatever happens, we're all just really excited to be launching our first album in our home city.

"The album's really been a family affair – my dad has helped me fund the production, my Uncle Leon, an artist, has done the album cover and it was recorded in High Green, a studio belonging to the father of our bassist, Tommy. In fact, it was Tommy's dad who taught me to play guitar."
