WORK is due to start next month on repairing roads in two more parts of Sheffield.

In the south west, the ‘Streets Ahead’ programme will focus on the busiest roads in Dore, Totley, Bradway, Greenhill, Millhouses and Lowedges. In the north, it will Bradfield village and surrounding reservoirs.

The work is expected to take up to 20 weeks and is part of the £2bn Government-financed highways repairs programme, which includes resurfacing roads, installing new energy efficient LED street lights, and improving pavements, drains and roadside tree within five years. Contractors Amey are working with the council.

Network director Graeme Symonds said: “We have planned the work to minimise traffic disruption and plan to do as much as possible outside the busiest travel periods. Residents and businesses directly affected by the works will receive a letter about what is happening on their road before works start.”
