Park hill feels like home as first tenants arrive
Catherine Fletcher settles into her Park Hill flat.
IT’S the moment some thought might never happen - but the first tenants have finally moved into newly-refurbished homes at Park Hill flats, revamped to the tune of £160m.
The tenants, who lived in the original Park Hill, are the first to move into phase one of the project, which overlooks Park Square roundabout and Ponds Forge.
Made up of 78 apartments, 26 have been earmarked for social tenants with the rest available to buy through shared ownership and private sale.
Mi Jang, aged 32, was one of the new residents, and has moved in after putting her name on a waiting list three years ago. She previously lived at the ‘old’ Park Hill, pre-refurbishment.
“I liked it at Park Hill from when I first moved here, even though the flats were very old,” she said.

“This is a nice new flat and I have great views from the lounge and the bedroom. I like to see the lights at night and I like my big windows. The under-floor heating is good. I am very happy.”
Coun Harry Harpham, cabinet member for homes and neighbourhoods, said: “It’s wonderful to see former tenants returning to new homes at Park Hill. I take great pleasure in seeing people coming back to a new and revitalised Park Hill.
“I hope that the tenants are happy in their new homes and wish them well for the future.”
