FIVE HUNDRED jobs are set to be created in Sheffield after a supermarket giant uveiled plans for a new city store.
Asda wants to demolish the Home Décor Innovations factory, off Beighton Road East, Drakehouse, and replace it with a huge 24-hour superstore, petrol station, and car park with hundreds of spaces.
Up to 400 jobs would be created in the store, with at least another 100 expected to be involved in building the new supermarket as well as a replacement factory for Home Décor.
Asda already has outline approval for the development, but has now submitted final proposals for planning permission.
Philip Bartram, for Asda, said: “We will be commencing work on our plans for a new store in Drakehouse next year.

But Roger Pateman, 68, a retired policeman, said: “The extra traffic is going to be horrendous. We already have the new Marks & Spencer at Crystal Peaks attracting extra
