Silversmith Charlotte Tollyfield with square teapot

THE SQUARE teapot pictured above has led to praise being poured on Sheffield silversmith Charlotte Tollyfield.

She was presented with the Best New Merchandise Award at the Goldsmiths’ Fair in London.

The teapot was acclaimed for its bold and innovative design. “I wanted to create a piece that would be a conversation starter,” she said. “This was the first time I was selected to take part in the Goldsmiths Fair and I wanted to make something that stood out, something memorable. I had the teapot at my stand for people to handle and admire. The appreciative feedback from visitors was exactly what I hoped for.”

Charlotte is based at Yorkshire Artspace studios Persistence Works in Sheffield.

She has been creating bespoke silver tableware for four years since completing her degree in metalwork and jewellery at Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College.

She first realised her passion for metalwork whilst studying for her BTEC Art Foundation Diploma at Sheffield College, going on to discover Sheffield’s thriving silverware industry when engaging the help and expertise of local craftsmen.

Charlotte is exhibiting at Yorkshire Art-space’s annual Open Studios from November 18 to 19, the Harley Gallery’s Christmas Food & Art Market from November 26 to 27 and at Museums Sheffield’s Christmas Crackers in the Millennium Gallery from tomorrow (Friday) to January 8.
