Tom Rodwell

"I just connected to that sound because it was quite otherworldly, I think," said Tom Rodwell on Front Room.

Rodwell started listening to Blues music at the age of 12. When he visited Sheffield Telegraph's music reporter Rachael Clegg on Front Room he told her why he got hooked.

"There was nothing on the radio in late 80s New Zealand. The stuff on the radio was Def Leppard," he said and continued:

"So to hear a casette of John Lee Hooker, it was really odd stuff, just this guy moaning and improvising stuff on the guitar, it was very otherworldly compared to 'Pour Some Sugar on Me'. Not that there's anything wrong with that."
