Two leading and long-established independent Sheffield based firms of chartered accountants have merged.
The merger means the Holmes Widlake team of seven staff have now joined Hawsons at their offices in Broomhill, Sheffield.
Hawsons is a long established firm formed nearly 160 years ago with branches in Sheffield, Doncaster and Northampton.
Hawsons’ senior partner, Martyn Weatherall said: “We are delighted to announce the merger of our two firms and extend a warm welcome to the clients and staff of Holmes Widlake as they join us.

As part of the merger, Trevor Holmes, former managing director of Holmes Widlake, will join Hawsons in a consultancy role.

The Hawsons practice was formed in Sheffield in the 1850s and also has offices in White Rose Way, Doncaster and Northampton. Five partners are based in Sheffield, four in Doncaster and three in Northampton.
It prides itself on the all-round expertise developed over many years.
In recognition of the growing demands and complexities of business life, it has developed a specialist structure designed to provide a positive and individual service to clients, with specific departments including audit and advisory, corporate finance, IT services, outsourced services, taxation and wealth management.
It is also a member of HLB International, a network of independent and professional accountancy services with member firms in 100 countries.
Holmes Widlake, previously based in Sharrow Lane, was established in 1807 and as well as traditional accounting and auditing services, offered clients help in improving and developing their businesses through services including compliance, consultancy, corporate finance, investments.
