Former Co-op group offices in Sheffield could be turned into a church and community centre.
New Hope Community Church is looking to move into a building that has been empty for more than two years in Old Lane on the Holbrook industrial estate in Halfway.
As well as church services on Sundays, the property would also be used for a food bank, mother and toddler and over-60s groups, a job club, a community mental health recovery group, a charity shop and a cafe.
“As resources permit, there will be various courses open to the community regarding parenting skills, healthy marriages, bereavement counselling, money management and a walking group,” says a submission to the council as part of an application to change the use of the old offices.
The church currently meets in a community centre in Clowne, and is seeking to expand some of its activities.
Its food bank is at maximum capacity, distributing more than 1,000 meals a week.
