SHEFFIELD-based architectural practice Race Cottam Associate celebrated its coming of age with a barbecue and drinks evening.

The company marked its 18th successful year in business with a party for more than 80 guests at Whirlowbrook Halls.

“It only seems like yesterday that we started the business and it’s difficult to credit how far we’ve come in that time,” said principal David Cottam.

He said he was particularly pleased to welcome Peter Race, with whom he started the business in 1993, and company secretary and practice manager Kath Hooley and senior technician Patrick Linskill, who had both been with the company since the first day.

“Since then we’ve completed a very wide and varied range of successful projects but over the years we’ve become particularly strong in projects for the retail, environmental, health and education sectors,” said David.

Based in Sheffield city centre, the business offers a comprehensive range of integrated architectural solutions, from the design of buildings and projects which meet complex and demanding requirements through to contract administration, project management and specialist planning advice.
