Fourteen years of Latin celebrations were crammed into one night as one of Sheffield’s most popular independent venues closed its doors.

Cubana tapas bar and restaurant – which has become renowned in the city for its authentic Spanish/Latin menu, live music and popular salsa classes – has shut on Trippet Lane.

But Sheffield won’t be without Cubana for long, as the business reopens today at the former Platillos premises in Leopold Square.

Adrian Bagnoli, the venue’s co-owner, said: “Everything people love about Cubana – our award-winning tapas food prepared by Fabian Cruz, the friendly staff providing that warm Latino welcome, our passion for live music and dancing, and our renowned tropical cocktails – will be as prevalent as ever.

“There’ll be the addition of a private function room, more DJ nights, a variety of dance classes and more live music acts.”
