Sheffield-based SMC Chartered Surveyors has announced the acquisition of Hale Saunders. The two firms will join forces and will trade from SMC’s offices at 54 Campo Lane.
Martin Saunders BSc FRICS is joining SMC as a consultant, bringing his experience and expertise to the team.
Martin set up Hale Saunders in 1995 and has built up a successful and well-known practice over the last 17 years with a good and loyal client base.
SMC was set up in 1999 and, like Hale Saunders, offers a wide range of commercial property services.
Mike Hull, managing director of SMC, said: “I am delighted that Martin is joining us. He is well-liked and respected in our industry and he enables us to offer additional services, such as residential valuations and surveys. The acquisition also means that SMC will have a larger presence in the commercial property market, a larger team of skilled property experts and a wider client base.”
Paul Trudgill, managing partner of hlw Keeble Hawson Solicitors – one of the largest firms in the region with offices in Sheffield, Leeds and Doncaster, represented SMC in the acquisition.
Paul added: “hlw Keeble Hawson has a well-established relationship with SMC and it’s been rewarding to share in the company’s exciting journey during the last few years. SMC and Hale Saunders are both very well-respected regional property specialists with complementary skillsets, and this deal creates a new offering with broad expertise across almost every property discipline. We wish the new firm well.”
SMC has also announced the return of John Higgins BSc MRICS who rejoins in early September.
Since last working for SMC, John Higgins has worked for the Valuation Office Agency and BNP Paribas Real Estate.
John will be responsible for commercial estate agency, property management and business rates consultancy.
Mike Hull said: “John’s conscientious approach to his work was always appreciated by our clients and now with him rejoining after gaining valuable experience elsewhere, this is really good news for us and our clients. SMC is now in a great place to build for the future.”
