Five students from a Sheffield college are enjoying six week internships at a leading bank as part of a charity’s drive to improve job prospects for young people.
The teenagers, all from Longley Park Sixth Form College, are at Santander’s city offices with support from Career Academies UK.
The charity provides a structured programme in schools and colleges through a mixture of masterclasses, mentoring, workplace visits and internships that help prepare students for the world of work.
Santander’s Linda Hoyland said: “Making the transition from school to work can be tough and giving students an early taste of what is involved will help give them skills and confidence to prepare them for their first job.
“The Longley Park students are settling into their roles and we hope that the experience they pick up on this placement inspires them.”
