ONE of the UK's leading engineering software specialists is keeping its northern base in Sheffield after finding larger premises on one of Yorkshire's largest business parks.
Solid Solutions is the principle UK reseller of SolidWorks, the world's most popular CAD (computer aided design) software. It launched a search for larger facilities after outgrowing its base on Sheffield Business Park – and found them round the corner.
The company is one of several new tenants to move into the Sheffield Business Centre on the site, which covers over 200 acres alongside the M1 at Junction 34.
"We didn't want to move away from Sheffield Business Park. We like it here but we couldn't carry on where we were because we didn't have enough space," says Solid Solutions sales manager Stuart Heavyside.
"We require flexibility for our operations – we didn't just want a larger building. It did look as though we would have to look elsewhere, but we were told about the facilities at the business centre so decided to take a look. It was perfect for us."
Flexible leasing and licensing options have also been designed to assist businesses in a challenging trading environment.
"Tenants also have access to a range of administrative, secretarial services, and meetings facilities as well as the onsite Blushes Caf.
"All the facilities we need are here," says Stuart. "The meeting rooms are a key benefit and the caf is fantastic for us and for clients attending our training courses."
"We are continuing to expand and we run a lot of seminars. The business centre gives us a lot of flexibility – we can accommodate 40 people or just a handful."
Sheffield Business Park manager Rebecca Byers welcomed Solid Solutions' decision to stay onsite.
"We are delighted to be able to provide the flexibility they require. There has been a lot of interest in the centre and its annexe from a wide range of businesses."
