HOUSEHOLD waste recycling centres in Sheffield are due to be hit by fresh strikes on Saturday and Sunday.
However, talks are scheduled to be held today (Thursday) in the long-running dispute over pay and opening hours which has hit the centres in Deepcar, Gleadless Valley, High Green, Shirecliffe and Woodhouse.
Workers with the GMB union are threatening to walk out again.
The operations are run by contractor Sova on behalf of the council and its waste management partner, Veolia Environmental Services.
Opening hours have been reduced at some of the centres because of cuts in council spending, which has led to long queues of traffic at the sites that are open.
Council cabinet member Jack Scott said: “It is unfortunate action is once again being taken by staff at the recycling centres.”
