The Business April

The Business April

April’s edition includes four fascinating interviews with foreign-born bosses who have chosen to make Sheffield City Region their home.

They talk candidly about the things they love about running a company here - and the things they don’t.

It also has a feature by Jo Davison on a unique training firm which uses that most skittery of animals - horses - to improve the communication skills of business leaders.

How the academy process is turning schools into businesses in need of lawyers, accountants and business experts was discussed at a round table attended by senior figures in education.

Janita Maaranen, from Finland, is founder of Into Professional, a Sheffield translation and business development firm.

And the lengths desperate companies will go to attract students into science, engineering and maths-related jobs is also covered.

But the publication also has room for fun, with a review of the supercars unveiled at the Geneva Motorshow and a review of one of Sheffield’s hottest eateries with one of its top property experts.

There’s also social pictures, a unique music industry seminar in Barnsley and deals, news and commercial property updates.

The Business magazine is published bi-monthly by Johnston Press - owners of The Star in Sheffield, Doncaster Free Press and Derbyshire Times - and it is backed by all four Chambers of Commerce.

Social media guru Grant Brydon led a music industry seminar at the Digital Media Centre in Barnsley.
