SHEFFIELD has every reason to be confident in its third round bid for City Region funding, the chairman of the Local Enterprise Partnership James Newman believes.
The Sheffield City Region’s bid is among 408 from across England submitted to the Government’s Regional Growth Fund Secretariat.
Ministers have £1 billion to allocate in autumn - and the combined value of bids from across the country is £2.68bn.
The Sheffield City Region has had mixed fortunes in the first two rounds, securing £18m for the Doncaster-Sheffield Airport link road in round one, but losing out to other areas in round two.
But Mr Newman said: “Although we haven’t had our fair share so far, this time we have made Government an offer they will find extremely attractive. Our bid asks Government to invest £38.6m to unlock £151.2m of investment, leading to sustainable, private sector growth and 2,193 new jobs by March 2015.”
