Award-winning Sheffield jewellery designer and manufacturer Jessica Flinn is expanding her workforce with two new appointments.
Mary Overmeer joins the team at the Jessica Flinn Boutique at 268 Sharrow Vale Road, where she will work in sales and also use her skills as a professional photographer to capture Jessica’s collections for the company website.
Matt Dunham, technical and design assistant, will work alongside Jessica at her design studio in Kelham Island’s Lion Works, working on product specification sheets and maintaining the company’s website.
“Having started out completely on my own, I am delighted to now have a workforce of 11,” said Jessica.
“It has always been my intention to give something back to the Sheffield economy and I am very pleased that the business is now able to sustain a thriving team in the studio and at the boutique.”
“With more new collections being developed all the time and the number of outlets now stocking my work nationwide growing – as well as regular slots on television’s Jewellery Channel and a contract with high street chain Argos – I am confident there is potential for even greater expansion in the months ahead.”
Jessica, a graduate of Metalwork and Jewellery at Sheffield Hallam University, took her creations to her first trade fair in London as a newcomer with no customers three years ago.
Within six months her designs were in over 40 independent boutiques and a leading high street chain with 750 stores nationwide.
Winner of the 2013 Duke of York Young Entrepreneur Award, she was featured in Professional Jeweller Magazine’s Hot 100 new talents and has been shortlisted for the BJA Designer of the Year award.
She was also a finalist in the recent Sheffield Chamber Business Awards and has featured in Vogue.
