A new hairdressing trend has blown into Sheffield from New York – as the city’s first salon with a bar is unveiled.
Stylebar in Banner Cross is the first blow-out bar – where customers can pick from a menu of styles while sipping on champagne or cocktails – in Yorkshire.
The trend, first tried in the US, has taken off in London and is now on offer in S11 thanks to brother and sister Dan and Cherise Hatfield.
Dan, who also runs London Road Jewellers, said: “We went to New York on holiday and were going for a meal when Cherise wanted her hair doing – that’s when we found a blow-dry bar.
“It’s a place where you can spend half an hour or go with a group of friends and make a night of it – it is affordable luxury.
“People can come in and have their regular style but we also want to champion the latest styles that are coming over from New York and London.
“We are certainly the only blow-out bar in Yorkshire.”
The salon, which the Ecclesall family has ‘not scrimped’ on revamping, with a marble bar, individual iPads for customers and hand-made Italian chairs, offers all the usual hairdressing services inside the Blenheim Reach building off Ecclesall Road.
But it specialises in 10 different blow-dry styles, from an Audrey Hepburn look to the ‘rock chick’, served with a drink and priced at £20.
It is already bringing in groups of girls and plans for a men’s section are afoot.
The bar is open but will officially launch with a party, with Lauren Pope as a DJ and Sheffield singer Jessica Steel, on June 20.
Dan added: “Our motto is that even if you love your hairdresser, blow-outs don’t count as cheating.”
