North Yorkshire County Councillor Margaret Atkinson took home the first place rosette, in the Charolais big bull class, on the first day yesterday.
Coun Atkinson, who also sits on Harrogate Borough Council, farms at Kirby Malzeard and said she was honoured to win at her local show.
“It is a fantastic show, it’s the best in the country, it feels fantastic to come here and win.
“This show is the biggest in the country now and it attracts the best competitors from across Yorkshire.
“It’s very busy this year, after last year’s washout.
“You can just tell there is a great atmosphere around the place.”
