Bride-to-be Diane Eyre could not stop smiling when she saw where she will be marrying her fiancé Alec Smith in Sheffield.
The couple notched up the most votes and won a dream £15,000 wedding with The Star’s Win a Wedding competition.
And as they walked around the Botanical Gardens and saw where their ceremony will be held they could not hide their excitement.
They saw the beautiful pavilion where they will become husband and wife and the stunning locations that will form the backdrop for photographs.
“It’s absolutely amazing. I remember coming with school years ago, but couldn’t remember what it is like.
“It’s beautiful,” said Diane, aged 36, a sales assistant in Tickhill, near Doncaster.
“We had been looking at Mount Pleasant Hotel near Doncaster for our wedding. It would have been in 2016, but thanks to all our friends, family and The Star we’ve got our dream wedding this year.
“We have so many people to thank for this, it’s just going to complete us. Some days it doesn’t seem real and on others I’m jumping around where I work, saying that I’m getting married.
“We’ve been through a lot together and it hasn’t been easy for us, but this is going to be the final piece of the jigsaw.”
After a photoshoot worth £1,249 with city photographer Lloyd Siddall, the couple will be driven to Whirlowbrook Hall for a three-course wedding breakfast and afternoon tea for 40 guests.
The venue will also host an evening buffet for 80 complete with DJ. The prize also includes a bespoke wedding gown to the value of £900 by up-and-coming designer Kelly Marie Redhead, a finalist in the Best Student Designer of the Year category in the Bridal Buyer Awards. Diane and Alec have been sharing all the organising, with the help of wedding planner Joy Hersey-Todd, with the car, dress and chair covers already ticked off the list.
Alec, 47, a project manager, of Lindholme Drive, Rossington, Doncaster, said: “It’s a team effort. We are both involved in doing everything.”
In fact, Alec wants to be so involved that he wanted to go along with Diane to her wedding dress appointments.
