MEMBERS of Sheffield University Officer Training Corps joined hundreds of younger Army cadets from around South Yorkshire for their annual training camp.

The two-week event was held at Sennybridge, near Brecon, in South Wales.

Almost 400 cadets practised military skills and team building, with 180 officers and instructors.

Col David Fuller, commandant for the Army Cadet Force in South Yorkshire, said: “The cadets had an exciting funpacked time and they participated in both military and adventurous training subjects.

“This included a mixture of field exercises including camping out for several nights, shooting, skill at arms, fieldcraft, map reading and orienteering, watermanship, drill and sport.

“Young adult instructors and senior cadets following the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award also had the opportunity to complete the Gold award expedition - a gruelling trek of more than 50 miles over the Brecon Beacons, whilst also taking part in military activities during the second week.”
