A 31-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of rape in connection with the death of Caroline Everest has been released without charge.
Caroline, aged 18 from Walkley, went missing after leaving Corporation nightclub in Sheffield city centre on November 23.
Her body was found was in a river off Summerfield Street the next day.
A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “While officers continue to work to establish the precise circumstances leading to Caroline’s death, through the use of CCTV, police have been able to rule out that her death was caused by the actions of another person.
“A 31-year-old man who was previously arrested on suspicion of rape has been released with no further action.
“Anyone with information about Caroline’s death should call South Yorkshire Police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111, quoting incident number 998 of 22 November 2015.”
