MEMBERS of different communities in Sheffield came together in the city centre for a celebration of each other’s cultures.
Music, dance, fashion, crafts, poetry and food were among the ingredients at the eighth annual international community cultural day at the Sheffield and District African Caribbean Community Association – SADACCA – on the Wicker.
The Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Coun John Campbell, officially opened the event, which was attended by members of the Jamaica Society of Sheffield, Sheffield Eritrean Community Association, Romano Jilo, the Refugee Council, the Guyanese community, Pakistani Muslim Centre and the Zimbabwe Mauritian communities.
Milton Samuels, SADACCA management committee chairman, said: “This event aims to promote a greater respect and cohesion between communities within the city, through shared understanding of our different cultures.
“We welcomed all communities to the event, which was a day of fun, learning and networking between communities.”
