A MEETING was held this week between the Occupy Sheffield campaigners and the church authorities as the protest entered its fourth week.

Representatives of the anti-capitalist group, who are camping in front of the Anglican Cathedral, met the Bishop of Sheffield, the Rt Rev Dr Steven Croft, and clergy from the city centre churches at the Central United Reformed Church on Monday.

They described it as “a positive and mutually respectful meeting”, allowing them to express their “concerns and anger about the increasing inequality between those who have and those who have not across the world”.

A commitment was given “to continue keeping channels of communication open”.
