SHEFFIELD climber and writer Andy Kirkpatrick has been shortlisted for an award for mountain literature.
He is in the running for the Boardman Tasker Prize for his second book, Cold Wars, in which he struggles to come to terms with his ‘day job’ of life in the mountains and being a father to two young children. His first book, Psychovertical, scooped the award in 2008.
Cold Wars is published by Sheffield publisher Vertebrate Publishing, which has another title on this year’s shortlist, The Wild Within, by Simon Yates, of Touching the Void fame.
The Boardman Tasker Prize commemorates the lives of Peter Boardman and Joe Tasker, who perished on Mount Everest in 1982.
