College’s boost for needy kids

SCORES of needy children received gifts this Christmas thanks to staff and students at Barnsley College.

They donated 118 presents to Cash for Kids, a charity that supports ill, disabled and under-privileged children in South Yorkshire.

Nineteen-year-old Peter Robertshaw, who is the Students’ Union events and societies officer, helped to organise a Christmas Market to raise funds for the appeal.

He said: “We started by collecting presents under the our tree and were thrilled when the pile got bigger and bigger every day.”

The Christmas Market also raised more than £200 for the Cash for Kids appeal.

Nicola Farrell, charity spokeswoman, said: “We are so pleased with the support we received from the college staff and students.”
