Cooking up cash for charity

BUDDING cooks brought Christmas cheer to shoppers in Rotherham to raise cash for charity.

Catering students from Rotherham College raised £173 for the Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity and Help a Hallam Child by selling cupcakes, mince pies, gingerbread and flapjack at a stall in the town centre.

One of the Santa’s Little Bakers group members even donned fancy dress to drum up custom at the Rockin’ Round the Christmas Tree event.

Stacey Monaghan, team leader, said: “The weekend was great. We sold almost everything which we didn’t expect to do.

“The whole team enjoyed it despite the weather and it was definitely worth all the work and late nights.”
