A SHEFFIELD church invited couples to reaffirm their marriages in a service in the same week as Valentine’s Day.
Couples who took up the invitation from St James’ Church in Norton ranged from one who got married there last year to one whose ceremony was more than 44 years ago.
Katherine and Geoffrey Hartland, of Ecclesall, were maintaining a tradition when they tied the knot at the church, one of the oldest in the city, in August 1967.
“My parents married at St James’, my grandparents did and I think my great-grandparents too,” said Katherine, aged 70.
She added: “Services like this are important as they make you think about what you promised and how things have gone.”
The Rev Geoffrey White, vicar of the church, which holds up to 30 weddings a year, said: “It was a positive experience for everybody.”
